High maintenance friends, we all have them. They need attention and reassurance along with lots and lots of advice and dedication. I am not saying high maintenance friends are bad, I find myself being one at times. However, those low maintenance pals you can call when you need but you don't have to speak to every single day, those are the friends who keep you sane and make you feel at peace.
Here are five reasons why low maintenance friends are good for your soul:
1. They never forget to wish you happy birthday.
This actually seems super petty, but being told happy birthday really makes a girl feel special. Those low maintenance friends never forget to make your day and always have the best throwback pictures.
2. They don't require much effort.
Between all of the classes and boyfriends and naps, there isn't a lot of time to catch up with all of your friends and their daily lives. Low maintenance friends don't really need to know your every step or what you're wearing that day, they can see that on snap chat, but when you need a hand they never turn you down.
3. They give the best advice.
Things are always much different from the outside looking in. Low maintenance friends don't need to know every single detail about the boy from the basketball team, but with the little you do tell them they can see he is no good right away. No judgements, no misconceptions, only the sound advice you needed to drop him like a hot potato.
4. They have all the best gossip.
We all have that one friend from high school that still lives back home that you can send screenshots of Facebook engagements to and they will give you all the juicy details, those are the best kind of friends. They don't ask why you are being nosey or why you care and you never have to feel guilty. Thank you BFF from back home.
5. They never make you second guess your worth.
Sometimes with high maintenance friends it feels like when they hang out with another friend and don't invite you that they don't want you around anymore, even though this is usually not the case. But with low maintenance friends, they can go on a trip around Europe with someone they just met and you won't feel one bit of not being good enough. You'll even ask for pictures the entire time they are halfway around the world and having the time of their life.
All friends are special and unique in their own way. They all bring something different to the table and I love you all. Thank you for putting up with my neediness and my bad boy habits, you are appreciated more than you know.
