Loving 'You' Everyday of the Week

I’ve said it a million times, but I’ll say it once again for the people in the back: love yourself. It's one of the most important things you can do. Whether it's for your physical health, for your mental well being, or for your chance at fame and fortune; you’ll get nowhere if you don’t first believe in and take care of yourself. I recommend doing it everyday of the week and here’s how you can do just that.

Soul Searching Sunday (Day 1)

Sunday is a perfect time to get in touch with your more spiritual side. For some that means raising the holy ghost in church, for others that might look more like a trip to a place where they can sit and meditate. Personally, I enjoy flipping through Pinterest for words of wisdom far wiser than my own. Whatever you do, make sure to leave with a greater appreciation for the world outside of yourself and appreciate the things that are even bigger than you are.

Mindful Monday (Day 2)

Mondays often serve as a painful reminder that work does in fact exist and weekends do come to an end. Nevertheless, I urge you to try your hardest to be mindful of your life and your life choices each and every Monday. Check in with yourself and how you feel about the things you are doing. Is your favorite color still baby blue? Is the vegan thing still working out for you? Is this new job fulfilling and worthwhile? Reflect and ask yourself the serious questions about your life, even if you don’t have answers just yet.

Treat Yo’ Self Tuesday (Day 3)

We often forget to do things for ourselves. Tuesdays are your chance to do anything but. Take yourself out to eat, watch an episode of your favorite show, paint your nails, soak your feet or do whatever helps you to feel a little more happy. You deserve it.

Wishful Wednesday (Day 4)

Today's a day for big dreams and wishful thinking. Since a large part of life is setting goals and achieving them, it's probably a good idea to come up with some new goals and plans for achieving them. Why should resolutions be saved for New Year's? They shouldn't. Make plans to better yourself, your position, your wardrobe, your relationships and then stick to it.

Thankful Thursday #TBT (Day 5)

Look back on the week that has now almost ended and take note of all the things you are thankful for. I’m thankful for my resident tossing me a Gatorade last Wednesday, for my bike for continuing not to break down, and for my new king size bed. Ahh, I love that bed.

Find Yourself Friday (Day 6

Take a few hours or the whole day to just get out and do you. For me, that means finding a little adventure. Biking to a place I’ve never been, hanging out with new people or trying food at a place I didn't even know existed. Along the way, I try to learn a few things about myself and who I want to be.

Simple Saturday (Day 7)

Saturday is for the simple pleasures like sleeping in late or waking up early to see the sunrise. Hanging out with good friends, taking a ride down to the beach, curling up with a good book or playing pickup soccer until your legs turn into noodles. Just relax, enjoy life and enjoy being you.

Everyday...

Ideally, people should make time for these things everyday, but the world isn't always ideal. Make a little time to find yourself, appreciate the simple things, give thanks for what you have, set your eyes on new hopes, treat yourself with kindness and appreciate how wonderful it is to just be you any and everyday of the week. Now, go love yourself.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
