Love Your Melon: Spread Smiles For A Good Cause

Well hello there world! I'm here to talk about this amazing charity that not many people know about: Love Your Melon.

It is an organization dedicated to spreading smiles while joining the fight against childhood cancer. I mean, I don't know about you, but that sounds like a pretty awesome organization to me. I am the current campus crew captain for the University of Arizona and I could not be more proud of this organization's accomplishments. Last year it fulfilled its goal of selling enough hats to give one to every child battling cancer in America! The proceeds of these hats go to cancer research initiatives such as CureSearch and the Pinky Swear Foundation. College campuses across the country have begun building crews to promote and sell hats for this organization. For each item sold that's credited to the campus at checkout, that crew gets a credit. Once a crew gets to 100 credits they are sent hats and everything they need to host a donation event at their local children's hospital!

The donation events involve the members of the campus crews becoming super heroes for the day and passing out balloons and hats and simply giving the kids a truly good day. While each child is going through a lot, what I feel like a lot of other organizations forget sometimes is that they are still children. All they want to do is play and have fun, and be a kid. Love Your Melon gives them the opportunity to do just that. There are so many ways to help! You can buy an item on the website, credit a campus crew, support the organization on social media, spread the word about Love Your Melon, share a campus crew's Facebook page, join your schools campus crew, or you can even help by just simply liking something posted on Facebook.

What I absolutely love about this organization is that it is not just about giving money to the foundations; it's about actively creating a smile for the children who are affected. For example, over the summer Love Your Melon met three-year-old Logan Todd, who was diagnosed with high grade brain glioma on June 1st. Love Your Melon heard her story and got to take this sweet little girl on an adventure she will always remember. After taking her horseback riding and on a helicopter ride, Logan got to have a princess party with her favorite singer Kacey Musgraves!

If Logan singing and dancing to her favorite songs doesn't melt your heart idk if you're actually a real human.

Come help support this amazing organization and get your Love Your Melon today!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
