Dear Mom and Dad,
From the moment I was brought into the world, you both gave 150% to make sure I was loved and supported unconditionally. I have to say I owe everything I am, and everything I aspire to be, to both of you. Our journey together has been filled with laughter, tears, countless back scratches, time-outs, life-lessons, and amazing memories. From my first word to my first day of college, you celebrated every accomplishment and milestone with me. And of course, any bad word I said, or bad test grade I received, I was punished and a lesson was made out of it. What I didn’t realize at that time was all of those little good and bad moments were the building blocks of my character and values that made me who I am today.
From an early age, you both made sure that I knew I would never have to walk through any storm alone, and that any mountain was not too steep to climb. You both believed in me when I didn’t want to believe in myself and took care of me when I was sick and weak. You taught me how important it is to celebrate and cherish our best days, and to fight and learn through our worst ones. But most importantly, no matter what day it was, you taught me to be grateful for every single one.
Throughout the past two and a half years I have spent away at college, there have been many challenges, tough situations and hard days that I have had to get through on my own. Any mess I made (literally and figuratively), I had to clean up. Although many times have been stressful, scary and tough, I knew that everything would be okay because I was taught to fight every battle until the end.
I learned from you two that it’s okay to fail, but it’s not okay to give up. I learned to stand up for what I believe in and to never let anyone treat me less than what I deserve. Thank you for giving 150% every day for me. I hope to be as strong and wonderful of a parent like you both of you some day. Thank you for embracing every moment with me. I love you both forever and always.
