It seems to me in this day and age it’s more of a popular consensus to agree that the US in blatant terms is going to hell. Trust me when I say I fully understand and agree that our nation has never been and will never be perfect, but with it being semi close to our country’s birthday, I thought it would be appropriate to explain why I love the ole red, white, and blue. Cue the song I’m proud to be an American.
OUR FOUNDING FATHERS WERE BADASSES
The founding fathers of the US were ordinary people like you and me who told the British crown in 21st century terms “We’re Out” when they didn’t like or believe in the way they were being governed. ORDINARY PEOPLE- farmers, lawyers, carpenters, etc, defeated the most powerful country in the world at that time, all because they believed in a vision of a country with a democracy. Own that history Americans.
MIX OF CULTURES
I was fortunate enough to grow up in a small farming community where doors could be kept unlocked and my friends and I could ride our bikes wherever we pleased as long as we were home by 6 for dinner. As we grew older, Friday night football games, driving aimlessly around listening to music, and bonfires became our regular routine. Whether you loved it or hated it, farming and country music were definitely a part of our small town’s culture. Then when I came to college, I got exposed to all the other types of cultures America has to offer. From learning traditions from a close friend who grew up in a Nigerian household, to more friends with Hispanic roots, America is a great example of melting cultures.
FREE SPEECH
Although this can be argued at some points, the Founding Fathers created this quaint little document called the Constitution that gives people like you and me the opportunity to talk about whatever we want. You don’t think gun control should be enacted into a law? Boom. Write an article, tweet, post, do whatever you like to get your opinion out there. Really enjoyed the cereal you ate today? Tell the world how you really feel about it without having the fear of being thrown into prison or a labor camp cough. cough, North Korea. Trust me folks, it could be a lot worse
AMERICA IS BREATHTAKING
I'll let the photos speak for themselves
THE PATRIOTISM
When the US was attacked by terrorists back on 9/11, our country didn’t crumble and give up, our fellow Americans rose to the occasion and brought patriotism and unity when our country was in a time of need. From rallying together as a country for the Olympics, to fighting for equal rights, you can’t beat that American spirit each of us possesses.
HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE
I can’t begin to fathom the sacrifices our veterans have made for our country over the years and will forever be grateful for their service. When I see a Vet from a previous war, to a current servicemen or servicewoman, I want to know they are fighting for something amazing; for the freedom for Americans.
So in closing, I’m going to use my right of free speech and say that while it is certainly easy to get caught up in all of the negativity and controversy going on in our country, I will never shake this beautiful view I have on my country. Cue the out chant U-S-A.
