It's no secret Wittenberg is going through some hard times right now. Information is swept away from sight, secrets are slinking behind the scenes, and, frankly, it's unfair and infuriating. But let us not get so engulfed in the negativity and rumors that we wind up forgetting why we're all here in the first place.
We're here because we love our professors. They push us in the classroom, pouring heart and soul into the material, and their passion inspires ours. They devote countless hours and incredible energy to make sure we succeed, not only during this semester, but for the rest of our years here and into the future. They prompt us to reconsider our perspective, to reevaluate our opinions, to reexamine our footing.
We're here because we love our involvement. Even when we complain about being overcommitted, we secretly love that we can dabble in so many organizations, causes, sports, and clubs. We learn how to be leaders, not through seminars -- though we have those -- but through experience. We pour our highest effort into every endeavor and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
We're here because we love giving back. We've learned how to move past our borders to branch out into the community to effect change. We band together to pack meals for Lesotho, to build houses in Alabama, to teach math in Springfield. We take our light and use it to ignite flames around the world.
Thanks to Wittenberg, we are all better people. We could have gone to another school, in another state, but instead we came here. Thanks to Wittenberg, we have been afforded incredible opportunities to excel academically and shine professionally. We can do anything and everything we set our minds to because we have the support system to back us up. Thanks to Wittenberg, we have alumni across the globe who wouldn't hesitate to offer a helping hand or make a connection for a fellow Tiger.
In the middle of all the confusion and muddled communication, let us not forget why we're here.
Let us not forget the traditions and habits that structure our memories.
Let us not forget the advisors and supervisors who care for us deeply and drive us to succeed.
Let us not forget the friends who brighten our lives and make us better people.
Let us not forget the mistakes and lessons we learned here that shaped us into who we are today.
Let us not forget why we still love our school.
