Music, in general, is one of those things that everyone can appreciate. Having a little rhythm in life never hurts, and in fact probably helps. Something about the aspect of hearing a beat or some tunes, changes the perspective of that moment. Music reminds people of times in their life, while also experiencing something new and exciting. There are a lot of aspects to music and the way that it affects people, socially and psychologically. The idea of music has always been a large aspect of culture and society, historically, while also continuing to grow and develop as the human race does as well. People don’t often analyze the music they listen to, or why they listen to it, but mostly all people are affecting by some sort of music at some point.

Socially, music fills the air, making a connection between people and their relationships. Music is played throughout society. Its played in grocery stores and retail stores, while also played in clubs, restaurants and bars. Music is played mostly everywhere, and where its not played, people often have head phones attached to them and ready to use. It makes sense, however that people with the same type of music taste are more likely to be friends than a mix of people that all have different music tastes. This means that people have a certain aspect of their personality that can correlate strongly with someone else’s. This isn’t to say that people with different genre types wouldn’t be friends, or that people with the same type have to be friends. This is just an observation that people that listen to the same music have something in common. Music is a large aspect of society even if its unrecognized.

Music is also important to the individual as well as the social environment. Psychologically, music makes people feel a certain way. A rhythm can alter someone’s mental state. If someone is tired and then they listen to some upbeat music, it is likely that the music will affect them, and they will be more energized when listening to that song. However, music can also affect someone inversely, in which if someone listens to a soft slow song, or a song they don’t like, can make that person feel worse than before. Music and rhythm or tunes, has a large influence on the person listening. The individual has the power to effect the music, however the music has the power to affect the individual just as easily.

Music is an amazing and exciting phenomenon. It is influential to many aspects of human lives, socially and mentally. I love listening to music and investing time in it, as I feel everyone should do too. Finding good music and songs that make you feel a certain way, is always a rejuvenating and happy feeling. People should continue to make, produce, grow and develop music to their own tune, and share it with the rest of the world as well.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
