It really is the most magical place on earth, and there’s literally nothing better than living only an hour away from Disney. I love going to Disney after classes and on weekends, and honestly, the mouse is my best friend. No, I’m not a Disney addict, I just really really like Epcot.
Sometimes, school gets the best of you. You’ve had a ridiculously stressful week, you wrote like, twenty million essay pages, and you want to curl up in your bed and never leave. Instead, I like to go to Disney. There’s nothing quite as relaxing as roller coasters and childhood nostalgia. I love just walking around; I don’t really care as much about the rides, but the feeling of being at Disney is the best. It’s my treat for going all week without screaming at someone or breaking down in tears. Or, at least, not doing it twice. I like to go in the late afternoons on weekdays; there isn’t as many people there, and the lines are shorter.
It sounds a bit sad, but honestly, it’s kind of nice going alone. My friends do come with me sometimes, but that’s usually on the weekends, when we make a day out of it. It’s just a bit difficult to align schedules on weekdays. And anyways, it’s nice to not have to follow anyone else’s whims and just do what I want. I can go from park to park or just sit on a bench and enjoy some Dole whip ice cream. Other times, I go with friends and we’ll ride on rides and have a great time. It really depends on my mood.
I think my favorite park is Epcot. I love the countries, and the Food and Wine Festival gives me life. Epcot is my dreamland. It’s like traveling the world, but you don’t have to pack your bags or actually travel out of Florida. I also am obsessed with Animal Kingdom. I love all the green plants and the animals there. Expedition Everest is basically the best ride ever, and I will ride it over and over. I am a little bit afraid of the Dinosaur ride there, I will admit. Especially when I ride it alone. Thus, I usually skip it.
Though not really in Disney, Orlando has some really really good, cheap restaurants. I love food. I will always love food. So a place that has every sort of food imaginable is like a dream for me. There’s even a Waffle House, something from Atlanta that I miss desperately. Disney has great food too, but I am a college student, I budget, so I usually go for the dirt cheap Waffle House instead. Plus, it tastes better.
I don’t think I would have survived this semester if not for Disney. It’s like escaping from college life for a few hours. Watching all the people on vacation having the trip of a lifetime makes me so happy, and I’m so glad I am lucky enough to live here. It’s all so magical and wonderful, and there’s no homework, so that’s pretty nice.
