The Thing I Have For Food

It's a love and obsession

I must confess, I'm a foodie.

What this means is that I extremely love food, and I eat, not necessarily humongous amounts of food at one time, but I can if the opportunity arises. I basically can eat and finish anything that is given or available, as long as it's edible, of course. Sometimes I don't understand why people complain about food when it is not as good as some other restaurant quality, but is not necessarily terrible.

Most of the time, I feel blessed to at least have food to eat. And my weakness when it comes to food is that I cannot make decisions. If someone asks me my preference between two similar dishes or restaurant, I, most likely would not be able to tell if they are just slightly different. And I always take excessive amounts of time to pick a dish from the menu because I literally can't decide between good food; I just want eat it all. I can't store food either. No matter how much food I have, once I have access to it, i.e. if it's near, or once I open a giant bag of chips, it will be gone soon. No exception.

I kind of always have to snack whenever I have to do work. It becomes a habit, like right now when I’m writing this. My morning motivation is to have breakfast. I find food as the solution for everything. Sometimes when I got upset or sad, I normally just buy a bag of random munchies, and it totally improves my mood. Of course life is not that easy but at least food tastes better than life. Most of the time my internal conflict is to eat, but not get fat. But often food wins because I indulge myself too much.

Of course I love eating. But it's not only about the eating process. What I love more about food is its artistic enlightenment it always brings to me. I bet no one knows my "ritual" before eating: snapping pictures of food from every angle to make sure I capture the most aesthetic side of the food and to make sure people drool when they see my food photo.

All my friends have caught me stalking some Instagram foodie accounts instead of some hot guys or girls. All my friends will randomly get asked to help me to pick between two retouched food pictures even though the pics might seem exactly the same to them. All my friends have heard me say "OMG the food looks so sexy!"

Food is an art!

How can one refuse that. My definition of "porn" is a bit different from people's. I literally find food the sexiest thing ever. If someone happens to see my phone camera roll, (s)he would see there are mostly food photos I took. I spend more time on my foodie Instagram than on my personal Instagram. I actually care more about what filter I put on my food photos and what caption I write more than any other personal photos I throw on other social media. I find my happiness when I follow a big foodie account and they actually follow me back and like my pictures. Having an interest in food has widened my social connection. I have to admit that I made quite a bit of friends with people with the same interest via Instagram. Isn't cool?

Being a foodie and having a food blog makes half of the world assume that I must be a fattie Asian kid, and the remaining half keeps complaining why I always look so skinny. But it's ok. My love for food is just unconditional and I cannot break up with it.

Literally why would one stop dating food when it never lets you down. Your weight would not stop going up if you and food keep dating in long term. Just follow the voice of your stomach *wink*.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
