15 Things We Love About Our Cats, Even When They're Annoying

Cat owners everywhere, how many times a day do you look at your furry child and think to yourself, "God, why didn't I get a fish?" Or something similar as your cat pushes your debit card into the trash somehow, or scales your fridge and gets mad when they don't know how to get down. I do this every day,

My cat is a pain in the butt, so every time they bombard me by jumping out of cupboards or laying on my laptop when I'm trying to write and then gets angry that I'm moving. (See: now)

But whenever I start wondering why I am stuck with my fluffy brat, I try to think of all the things I love about my cat.

1. They're adorable as heck

My cat, in particular, is incredibly photogenic, and every time I get frustrated by him, I just look back at all the sleepy kitten snuggles I have photographed over my two years of cat ownership.

2. They're sometimes snuggly

Cats are kind of picky about when they want snuggles, but when they approve of it, they are some pretty amazing snugglers.

3. Their personalities are like ours

Every cat is different, and just like us, that means they also have different personalities. Discovering their personalities is a super fun part of owning a pet.

4. They'll nap with you

My cats love to climb up on my chest and nap whenever I fall asleep on my couch, and I don't mind. It's so nice to wake up to a fuzzy ball of sleepy kittens.

5. They're playful (when they want to be)

Whether you're making your cats chase a laser pointer, or tickling their tummies, playing with cats is so much fun, and it's good for the soul.

6. They can make us laugh

Your cat spends a lot of time with you, and no doubt you've witnessed some of their weirdest moment. You definitely saw them fall off a couch or two in your time with them, and you love them even more because of it.

7. They are great motivators

There is no better motivation to get up every morning than a cat loudly meowing until they have been fed. They are relentless, and will definitely claw your face off if not fed immediately.

8. They are fluffy balls of love

Cats can be the most loving creatures on the planet when they want to be, and they like when they get pets from their humans. So it works out for everyone when they want to be loving.

9. They have weird habits

Whether your cats stare longingly out the window, waiting for their spouse to return from the war, chirp like a bird, or they play fetch with paper, cats are just weird animals.

10. They love us

Cats love us, and we inevitably love them. It's just how it works.

11. The Insta-purr

Cats are easy to please. They don't need candle-lit dinners or serenading, they just need you to lay a solitary finger upon them, and the purring commences.

12. They're fiercely independent

Another reason we love cats is that cats don't need us all the time. They are fully capable of entertaining themselves 98% of the time. We are just a cool bonus in the life of our cats.

13. The butt wiggle

you know the one when they are staring down the piece of paper you just threw. They lower their bodies, give the ball the death stare, and instantly lose all credibility by wiggling their butt.

14. Their random tendencies

Be that suddenly sprinting across the house at 1 a.m., or randomly falling from the back of the couch onto the floor. They're incredibly bizarre animals, with a mind all their own.

15. They somehow manage to put up with you, as long as you feed them

We've all made our cats question why they don't kill us in our sleep, but at the end of the day, we both put up with each other for better or for worse.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
