Dear College Self,
Let me start off by telling you how proud I am that you actually did what you said you would. As scary as it seemed and as skeptical as you were, thank you for making the best decision you could have for the both of us. You were given an opportunity that some people can only dream of so please treat it that way. Keep in mind how long this was something you thought you would never get to experience and how lucky you are that you are getting to.
Your life can be absolutely everything you want it to be. And I don't mean that in the way your mom has always told you. It will be everything you want it to be if you make it that way- the key word being YOU. You are the only person in this world that is going to have control over the outcome. Have faith in that statement. Trust that you are more than capable of achieving all of the things that seem unrealistic as of right now. They're not out of reach. They're closer than you think they are.
You're incredibly too young to have the expectations that you have for yourself. Please be easier on us. Nothing is set in stone. You are not obligated to anyone or anything. You are not supposed to have it all figured out and no one is expecting you to. I don't want you to be so busy worrying about things that don't matter that you miss out on all of the things that do. There's so much happening in your life and I want you to be there. I want you to experience it and love it and appreciate it, I don't want you to miss it. You will never ever get this back so love every second of it. Believe it or not, you will be chasing these days for the rest of your life.
I need you to start accepting things for how they are. As soon as you're able to do that, all of the noise you've created for yourself will quiet down. If you haven't realized already, people don't always reciprocate the love that you keep giving so easily. Stop taking that so personally and start recognizing that those aren't the people you need in your life. Stop giving away the most vulnerable parts of yourself to the people that don't deserve it. Continue to do right by the people who have contributed to your growth and change and move on from the people who haven't.
You are important, you are lovable, you are enough. You have to know that. Even if everyone around you believes it, it means nothing if you don't. I believe in every piece of you. Do good things and give the best part of yourself to this world because it will all come back to you one way or another. Make it happen, the way you always have. If it's not for you, do it for me.
