I dare you to ask me what music I like to listen to. Well, one hour I'm really craving some Brad Paisley or "Florida Georgia Line." Next hour, all I want is the bass and summer vibes of "Sublime With Rome" or the "Dirty Heads." Mix in some "Green Day" and "Angels and Airwaves." Later on, I'm mentally playing along with my favorite Bach violin Partita. If I'm stuck in the car with only the radio, it's the classic rock station, hands down. So who says I have to choose just one?
Confession: I totally fangirled over my recent discovery of the electro swing genre. A friend introduced me to the group "Caravan Palace," and my own obsessive YouTube exploration frenzy went from there. Think, EDM fusing with the 20s to 40s-Gatsby-era-big-band-Charleston time period. Now, I'm no expert on the genre and I don't claim to be. I'm just another music fanatic that was easily hooked on the vibe, beat, and nostalgic big band feel that the genre revolves around. The new sound was irresistibly intriguing to me. So here's a few of my favorites (so far!) that you have to hear to believe.
1. "Lone Digger" by Caravan Palace
Crazy funky animated psychedelic video.
2. "The Queen of Swing" by Swingrowers, featuring Gypsy Hill
Don't be fooled by the calmness of the beginning pizazz
3. "Thrift Shop" by Bart & Baker Electro Swing Remix
This is genius. Can't get enough of her voice.
4. "Looking Like This" by Lyre Le Temps
Catchy chorus, original style, some humor, the change to 'speaking' actually grew on me
5. "Bella Belle" by Electric Swing Circus
Light and perky...looking mighty swell..
6. "Bad Boy Good Man" by Tape Five
7. "Box of Secrets" by Zarif
Open up your box of secrets take one out for me...
8. "That's right" by Swingrowers
Damn can she sing! Love the chorus.
9. "Jolie Coquine" by Caravan Palace
How to do without you...Plus some priceless stop motion video action
