There’s no typo. I meant to say “why I lost 50 pounds.”

Check out my read from a few weeks ago and you’ll see I lost 50 pounds in less than a year. It’s easy to google tips and tricks to shred the weight. You want to know what starts a person to achieve a major lifestyle change? It doesn't begin with balance or consistency. That comes later. It's all about the discovery and ownership of your why at the very beginning and forever moving forward with it as your superpower.

Why did you decide to make a change? What makes you continue to show up for yourself every single day?

Here we go, my why. Well, why I started. Why I stuck with it is a completely different story. I think your reasoning for a change is well...forever changing. Your priorities shift. What you need to truly live a life you love is a work in progress.

I fully believe that a small moment can serve as a big wake-up call to huge changes.

I was at my third year of a kiddo camp for my 9-5. This particular camp I was actually one of the big dogs on campus (literally because this camp is well...on at The Ohio State University). I helped run the weeklong college and career readiness camp.

One night we went into crisis mode and ran up the stairs of a five-story dorm building. I reached the fifth floor and my shortness of breath turned into chest pains. As other staff dealt with the luckily false alarm I leaned against the wall and thought I was the one in for a real emergency.

We returned to our evening staff meeting on the first floor. Once it was my turn to update staff I still struggled to breathe regularly. I felt weak physically and emotionally. My legs were shaking and my breath was still short. This stuck with me hard.

A few weeks later I bought a fitness program. I meal planned hard. I received some amazing accountability and support. I believed in myself enough from that community to stick with it. I didn’t cut every food I loved out.

Most importantly I remembered that moment at the top of the stairs. Where I felt powerless and not confident in my own skin and capabilities. Never forget the most uncomfortable times can serve as the exact moment to make a positive life change. Embrace it and own that why. Let it be your superpower.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
