To My Grandma Watching From Above

I don’t really think I’ll ever get used to life without you, but I learned how to carry on.

Grammy,

Still watching out for me after all these years must not be the easiest task, but I have to start this off by saying thank you for doing that. If it wasn’t for you, I don’t know where I’d be in life. Your physical presence has been gone for many years now, but not a day goes by where you aren’t here with me.

Without your influence in my life, I would certainly not be the person I am today. When people tell me they see something of you in me, that’s the greatest compliment anyone could ever give me. Nothing makes me happier than knowing parts of me, as crazy as they may be, are like you because if anyone’s like you, they must be doing something right.

Thank you for all you have done for me — both in your time on this earth and in the time your presence has been so missed. While you may not be here anymore to give me advice or help me with problems face to face when certain things finally click for me I know I owe it all to you.

Thank you for all the lessons you gave me while you were physically here. I promise to always use them whenever needed because we all know nobody gives better lessons than you did. I may not have understood them at the time, but I do now, and I couldn’t be more thankful that you instilled in me what you did.

It’s hard not to wish that your physical presence could’ve been here for all the big moments throughout the past years, but what helps the most is knowing you were always there looking down on me. That is one thing I’m absolutely sure of, and I’ll never ever question, so thank you for that as well.

I don’t really think I’ll ever get used to life without you, but I learned how to carry on. With everything I do, I strive to make you proud. I hope you have always known how much you mean to me, and you never question it. I could not be more proud to call you my Grandmother.

While I may not always be able to see you, I feel you there with me with every step I make. I hold close the times we had together, and the fact that one day I will see you again.

I love you to the moon and back a million times.

Your Granddaughter

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
