Looking Beyond "The Four Seasons"

We take for granted what this beautiful earth offers us.

One of the greatest things about living in New York is that we get to experience each season. One of the saddest things about living in New York is that we are never satisfied with the weather. It is either too hot, too cold, too rainy, too snowy, etc. We fail to see the beauty in the seasons, we fail to look beyond just the temperature. We take for granted the beautiful colors, changes, and new experiences the seasons give us.

Winter

Mostly everyone in New York hates that word. And yes, at times the winter can be brutal and you just want to blame mother nature for the 12 inches of snow she left on your driveway. But, winter is magical. There is nothing prettier than seeing the first snowfall on the crisp green grass. It glistens and makes the outside brighter. Trees lose their leaves, but they need to in order to breathe, it is necessary. Winter is about holiday's and what is not better than spending time with your family on the holidays? Winter is filled with hot chocolate, curling up in big blankets, and watching endless amount of movies. Winter is a chance to wind down and realize that being together with your family is one of the best gifts life can offer. Though it might be negative degree weather, and hands might turn purple because they are so cold; winter is a good change. Winter is enchanted, frosty, glistening, toasty and white.

Spring

I swear people must actually "spring" when they hear this season is coming. Spring is a time when people are done with winter and want to move onto the warmth and sun. Spring is another time for change. It rains a lot during this time but that is o.k. The grass needs it. The flowers start to bloom. Kids run freely outside in their play yards. People are outside walking their dogs. It is a time where you can finally socialize on the patio and soak up a little warmth when doing it. Spring is a fresh slate. Spring is blooming, cheerful, pleasant, refreshing, and sun-filled.

Summer

A time when you only can get cool if you have central air or an in the ground pool. Summers can be brutal. But, its also a time of relaxation and taking in vitamin c while doing it. Summer is a reward period for the kids in school, the people that work, or those taking some time off in general. Summer are cook-outs, fireworks, and bonfires. Summer is recollecting yourself. Summer is a time to enjoy yourself, make yourself better, get ready for what is ahead. Summer is a time of laughter, making memorable memories, and continuing to shine as bright as the summer sun. Summer is delightful, endless, growing, relaxing and warm.

Fall

This has to be mostly all of New York's favorite season. This season is the most prettiest. The leaves start to change. Kids are getting ready to go back to school. People are getting back to their normal daily routines. Fall is a chance to begin again. Like each leaf that changes color on a tree, each individual has the power to change themselves. Fall is a time to be thankful for all that you have. Fall is when college students come back after their first month at school and feel welcomed, and safe. Fall is bright, colorful, cooling, golden and vibrant.

There is much more to seasons then just their temperature. We forget to acknowledge that each season comes with changes that are for the good. We keep growing as people. And as we are growing our earth is doing magnificent things that we should pay attention to.

This earth is amazing and sometimes we forget just how lucky we are to experience it all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
