Long Live Love

It is such a funny word.

Love. What a funny word that is. It is meant to be said with meaning. It is supposed to be defined by actions, it changes the entire way you look at people, places and sometimes, even the way you think. It is a word, it is an emotion and it is an action. It could bring you the world, and in an instant, it could be what takes your entire world away. It does not come to all, but it does come to some. It is not always realized, nor is it always returned. It can come in millions of different ways. It can be imagined, and it can be real. When it is real, it is never forgotten. Love. It is such a funny word.

Love is not the things you buy or the flowers you wish to have waiting on the door step after a long day. It is not living in expensive houses, nor is it the late night dinners at fancy restaurants. Due to the movies, novels and wild ideas that radiate from the media, love has become nothing but fiction. People have created a perception of what love is rather than what it is supposed to be. In today’s world, love is not valued. It is a worthless word, and that is where things are misconstrued and hookups begin. Women yearn for love that is not given and instead are OK with the mistreatment and “quickies” that have been developed in its place.

When you look at someone and begin to smile brighter than you have ever smiled, just because it is them there is a warmth and confront radiating off of them and that radiation is what keeps you going even at your darkest and coldest times, that is love. They keep you going in and out of times of need. When their breath is the same breath you feel for. The breath that is keeping them alive, and that same breath is what is keeping you going. Their life is eventually yours. The best part is that love found you, and you did not have to find them.

It is not always as easy as the world likes to make it sound. It is like a battle, and the battle is never ending. It is an everlasting mission that, at some points, feels like it will never end. Depending on the person, they might not want it to. The never-ending roller coaster becomes an adrenaline rush made for a king. The thrill is in the fight. For others, it becomes too much. The love cannot withstand the pushing and the pulling. The wind around it putting too much of a force, it has to come to an end.

Love is something that is unpredictable. If you could know what is going to happen, then it would not be love. It would be life. There would be no thrill and no roller coaster with your own personal buddy. It would be “quickies” with no emotion, no care and connection. Love. It is such a funny word.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
