"And in this corner..."
Randy Carver, Jr. was born and raised in Lagrange, Maine, about twenty minutes north of Orono. He's been a big fan of Shawn Michaels, someone he says he "was always enamored with what he did in the ring."
Becoming a fan around 2008, Carver immediately fell in love with the interesting world of professional wrestling. Taking his fandom to another level, he established an independent promotion based in Maine to help revamp the somewhat lackluster presence of pro wrestling in the state. Carver sat down with Odyssey contributor Jacob Prest recently to discuss the concept behind the promotion, the various ins and outs about pro wrestling, and the importance of independent wrestling.
That promotion celebrated its two-year anniversary on September 22 with their show "Question the Answers", where numerous independent stars like Jack Swagger, Joey Ryan, and AR Fox rounded out a star-studded show. Providing Maine with excellent pro wrestling and entertainment, this promotion encompasses the perfect example of how independent wrestling should be taken more seriously. This, ladies and gentlemen, is Limitless Wrestling.
Prest: What was your vision for Limitless?
Carver: I think the motivation is to make Maine wrestling better, because it had a really bad reputation with fans out of state, wrestlers out of state....there'd be some promotions that were, you know, the span of however long wrestling has been in Maine where there were not great crowds, or deals that were agreed upon that did not follow through, or just bad business sometimes. It was tough to get going because when fans in the state are used to getting one kind of product over and over again, it's kinda hard to sell them on, you know, "This is gonna be different." The motivation then was the same today, just to make Maine wrestling better and to bring in some of the biggest stars in independent wrestling today along with some of the biggest stars of New England, and have this crazy card every single time for people to enjoy.
A key term Randy used was 'card', which means the lineup of matches announced for every show. Pro wrestling shows often have a menu of what it has to offer that specific night, and Limitless has had incredible shows since their initial show in 2015. In fact, Carver feels proud that every show since early 2017 has gotten bigger and bigger.
For those who attend UMaine Orono, Limitless held a show in the Fall of 2016 at the Track Center. A match that stood out in the show was The Maine State Posse vs The Tenacious Two:

The promotion has seen some incredible talents from across the globe since 2015: Cody Rhodes, Zack Sabre Jr, Tommaso Ciampa, JT Dunn, Ricochet, Matt Sydal, ECW Legend Super Crazy, Ace Romero, Chris Hero, and many more great independent talents.
Prest: Do you feel like the same vision has come full circle?
Carver: Yeah, definitely. We did almost 500 people in January 2017, that was-is-the biggest crowd we've had so far.
Prest: That was the show 'Unreal' with Cody Rhodes?
Carver: Yeah.

Some matches that Limitless has promoted have included Cody Rhodes vs JT Dunn, Ace Romero vs AR Fox (Fans Bring the Weapons Match), Chris Hero vs Zack Sabre Jr, Ricochet vs Matt Sydal, and numerous matches that have wowed the audiences that come to the show for a great form of entertainment.
Entertainment has been a foundation for pro wrestling since the sport's inception: enticing and grabbing the audience with storytelling and skill going hand in hand. Additionally, independent wrestler's are always looking for a chance to show their strengths in the ring, which makes it a win-win situation for both the wrestler and the promotion.
Limitless perfectly enamors the positive elements of independent wrestling, where storytelling and great in-ring action are presented to the fans in a great way. The promotion's dedication to providing the state, and much of New England, with great wrestling has indeed come full circle. Take it to the Limit, yeah!
