Living in the NOW at Single Status

I have been single for about my whole college career given a date here and there, and a fling or two. I wasted too much time on worrying about what my future may look like and who I’m going to end up with. Reality is, in this time I have grown in so many ways, and I couldn't be more thankful for this time I’ve been given to learn who I am and who I’m gonna be. But it’s not about who we’re with or about being single, its about accepting where we are NOW and loving the now to the fullest extent. Let me put this in perspective and list some perks about the single life related to the NOW:

1. You get to worry only about yourself.

Theres no need to make time for someone that you know you have to spend time with or else the relationship will falter. And I’m not talking about friends, most anyone doesn't have to MAKE time for friends. Be a little selfish, have some you time.

2. You get to spend more time with your dearest friends.

We all know our friend time is our get-away time, sometimes literally. Plan a trip with those friends, make some memories and take advantage of your time together with them!

3. Travel wherever your heart desires.

In this case, it’s just you and the road. Go where you've always dreamed of going, without having to worry about leaving someone behind for a time.

4. No need to worry about who you’re gonna be around.

Some people have those ex’s or just people that just aren’t family friendly to be around when in a relationship, especially if your’e boyfriend/girlfriend knows about it. You get to be around them and not care and not worry

5. You get to be as independent as you’d like.

This is my all-time favorite perk. Even my parents get a little angry at me for wanting to be so independent. You can go out when you'd like, with who who'd like. You get to grow up. Becoming independent is a true benefit for your future.

6. Save money! (Hey, broke college kids gotta survive)

Not feeling the whole adventurous things because it may cost too much money? Then save! Make a budget plan, go wild! Save up for a new car, a new place, a new phone, you name it, save it.

7. You get to live the life YOU have always wanted.

There is no need to shape your life around or with someone else’s. You get to create a life you dreamed of having. Go out meet new people, go to new places, get any job anywhere you'd like. Things that make your heart happy!

8. Your Bucket List.

All those things you've taken note that you have got to do before settling down and having a family, go do them! You have every right to follow your dreams in anyway you can, need, and want. Make those dreams on that piece of paper a reality.

7. The last CFA chicken nugget? Yeah, that’s yours.

We all know us ladies love us some food. You too guys, we know.

10. You get to work on you.

Now let’s get serious for one last second, we all know we have things to work on. No one wants to jump into anything feeling as though they don’t know who they are or what they want in life. Not saying you can’t, I’m saying for those who are single and don't know what you wanna do, find that passion and never let go.

Love the now and you will be the happiest you've ever been. Accepting where you are is the answer. Quit comparing yourself to others, to what they have, what they get, and what . Quit naming what you don't have and wish you did. Let me be cliché…life is way too short to worry about what others have and what you don’t have. Stop worrying so far ahead in the future and wondering what your life will be like and will it be what you want. Make now what you want and create a pathway for the future you want. You can’t change the past but you can change the now. It all starts NOW.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
