My experience in a long distance relationship

Living in a Long Distance Relationship
Emily Morgan

For the past 10+ months, I've been in a very long distance relationship. When I say long distance, I mean 2,000 miles apart. My boyfriend and I have seen each other twice since we've been dating. It has unarguably been one of the hardest, but most rewarding part of my life. I know for a fact, that God brought us together and had pulled us through this long.

It's hard not seeing each other for months at a time. We have endless phone calls, texts, snapchats, and skype calls. I think that actually helped our relationship. We talk more than the average couple. We know each other so well and we know how to communicate well. Several couples I know see each other fairly often, but don't truly talk and learn more about each other. I think that's why some relationships fail. Communication is everything. We try to text or talk every chance we get. Now we are more clingy type people so we constantly want to be talking. One thing that drives people crazy, is that we will call each other and just sit in silence. It's not always talking. It's being in each other's presence. It helps us feel like we are somewhat together.

All the time apart that we have to spend, makes our time together so special. When we are together, we try to make the most of our time. We are inseparable. We love annoying each other, watching movies, and just walking around. We are both big foodies so we really enjoy going out to eat. When I am in Seattle with him, we go to restaurants that we don't have in Arkansas. When he is here, we go eat Mexican food, because we have stellar cheese dip that they don't have up north. I live close to Branson, Missouri, so I'll take him to shows and Silver Dollar City. Every moment we spend together, we try to make it into a special memory.

We don't have the most ideal relationship, but it works for us. We are both happy and loved. We both believe that the purpose of dating is to find your spouse. We are hoping that God's will, allows us to marry in a few years. We are so excited to see what God has in store for us and our relationship.

I'm happy to say that I am now living in the same state as my wonderful boyfriend. He recently moved this past weekend and now I can see him more often. He is living in my hometown, but I'll still be 3 hours away at college. I'll get to see him most weekends and I am beyond excited. God has blessed us with new opportunities and I'm ready to tackle on this new adventure with my boyfriend. We will finally get to celev

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
