For the past year, I have been obsessed with these amazing bracelets that have so many benefits to them. Pura Vida is a company created by two guys, Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman, who took a post college graduation trip to Costa Rica. What they saw there, in terms of work and livelihood, changed their lives forever. Before they knew it, an idea was born!
While traveling in Costa Rica, these college alums met some bracelet makers and were astonished by the beauty put into each piece.They were also astonished by the day-to-day living conditions of the makers so, to help them out, they asked for a large order to take back to the States, which they quickly sold out! Thall and Goodman decided to become business partners with the Costa Ricans they met and, soon, a huge business was born! Each bracelet benefits the life of a Costa Rican by providing work for local artisans and, as a result of their popularity, they give back to the world!
The Charity Collection just so happens to be my favorite part of this whole endeavor! Naturally, I found them while online shopping and fell in love! Each bracelet purchased from the site gives back to 1% For The Planet. Through this organization, each bracelet provides contributions to the Surfrider Foundation, a cause that helps keep beaches clean and preserve oceans. Not only do they help Surfrider, but they also benefit many other charities and causes.
There are eight categories for charitable cause bracelets on the site, each with its own set of bracelets. Not only that, they are willing to consider ideas for additional charities to add to the collection! How cool!
The first category is environmental causes, or enviro-causes, which contains pieces that help preserve wildlife, clean air and water and so much more. You can check this line out here! The second category, which is close to my heart, is animal causes. As an avid dog lover and owner, I find myself drawn to this category.
