To my most favorite people:
Thank you. Thank you for caring when no one else does, for being nice when others are mean, for loving me when I don’t love myself.
To my not so little brother:
You the real MVP; literally and figuratively. You can throw a baseball 127 feet from home plate to second while popping out of a squat. If I tried that I might rip my limbs out of their sockets. You can also always, and I mean always, make me laugh. Seriously, I am not exactly the peppiest person on Earth and yet I will be after talking to you, even for a minute. I don’t know what it is, but I don’t care because you making me laugh is just about the only constant I have in this life.
To my mom, twin, best friend:
Thank you and I love you. If I said no more to you then these two phrases would be the most important. How is it that with every problem you have an answer and with every stumble, you help catch me before I fall? It’s a super power of yours.
To the coolest guy I know, my dad:
I see a little bit of you every time I smile or talk about things I love. Your excitement for life is infectious and your confidence is something I wish to implement in my own life on a daily basis. You’ve taught to stand up for myself and do no harm but take no crap and for that, I am eternally grateful.
To my best friends (of which I can count on one hand):
It means so much to me that I know you will always be there for me and yours arms are open whenever I need a hug. You’re the truest of true because I’ve had a lot of friends and ended up with only this few and to me, that is perfect. You make me see myself in a different, better light.
To the people who smile and hold the door for me:
Thank you for making me feel special and confirming that human connection is still a real thing even within this technological world.
To the professors who make learning fun:
I am so happy to be in the presence of someone who cares about the same things as I do and who wants to share the greatness of art and architecture with a broader audience. It is from you that I am learning so much about the subject as well as how to articulate what I love about the buildings and works of art that I study.
To everyone who shines their authentic light into the world:
Thank you. I may not know you, but I hope to meet you someday. Until then, thank you for sharing your happiness with everyone because we could all use a little more of that.
Most sincerely,
Zoe
