"I've been daddy's little girl since my first cry
And it was hard turning eighteen, saying goodbye."
- Carrie Underwood-
Dad:
You have done more for me than you will ever know. And while I may be an "adult", I will be your little girl forever and always. From the daddy-daughter dances where you showed us how a true gentleman treats a lady, to the hours and hours spent in the car driving around to softball practices or tournaments, I will always be thankful for time our together and the lessons I learned.
You taught me about working hard. Seeing you, spend hours and hours commuting and working long days, taught me that it's worth it. You worked hard, and continue to work hard so that you can provide for our family and get Alex and me through college. I want the same for my kids. I want them to be able to attend college without worrying about debt, because my husband and I provided and saved for them.
You (and mom), believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself. Especially in softball, I knew you would always have the confidence in me that I never found in myself. You encouraged me to keep trying and never gave up on me. You didn't even give up on me during all those nights of math homework where I was so lost. You remained calm and waited for me to hopefully understand it, so thank you. You pick out my strengths when all I can see are my flaws. You love me unconditionally, and always have my back.
You have supported me in everything I've wanted to do. From the small things of what classes to take and what sports to play, to the bigger things; wanting to transfer schools (a few times) and of course my dream of being in mission work in another country. You gave me a book, Kisses From Katie, which sparked my desire to go to Africa. You are supportive of me and I know you want nothing but the best for me.
Of course you taught me how to get my guns up and I am so excited to be at your alma matter, cheering on your school. There may be a few different traditions now, but hey, at least we share that bond of the double t. Wreck 'Em.
And lastly, love. Watching you love mom so well and constantly support her, has shown me what to look for in my future husband. You laugh at her jokes, even when they're really not that funny, and you're there for her when she needs you most. I am so excited to have you walk me down that aisle on my wedding day. And if my future husband is half the man you are, I'll consider myself the luckiest girl alive.
I love you, Dad and I hope one day, that I become the girl you think I am.
