A Letter To My Little

First, you become a part of it, then it becomes a part of you.

A Letter To My Little
Izabel Horn

It's just like that, you are no longer a new member. You have gone through the new member process and the degree ceremonies that bring you closer to our sisterhood. Now that the process is over, you are now an active member!

I could not be more proud of you and how far you have come already. You have learned so much about our organization and will make an amazing member. However, you will still need to hold close to your heart everything that you learned. Our values, our philanthropies, and our sisterhood. These things are more than just words and events. They are what builds passion and drive. They represent who we are and who we want to become.

Ta Kala Diokomen is more than words we struggle to say correctly. It is how we represent ourselves in our classes and on campus. It is how we show the community who we are. It is what binds each and every Kappa Delta together from the beginning of our organization.

The organizations that we represent become more than names. All the time that is put into the events raising money for Prevent Child Abuse America and the workshops with The Girl Scouts is where you will find the little joys of life. Being able to see the Girl Scouts smile during the games in the front yard will bring the joy you are looking for during the hard times at college.

The sisterhood bonds that you will form over your few years on campus will only grow stronger. Between the late night run for fries and the sleepless nights in the library, you will develop sisterhood bonds without even trying. It is these moments that will guide you to find your true friends as well as becoming that friend for someone else.

As you move further into your college career, promise me some things. Promise that you will never let go of the little joys that Kappa Delta will bring you. Get involved in the chapter and become the women you envision yourself as. Most importantly, do not let this become just another organization. This is more than weekly meetings and community service projects. It is more than the socials and formals. It is something that will help you grow with amazing sisters who help you aspire to be the best you can be.

First, you become a part of it, then it becomes a part of you.

Love,

Your Big AOT

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
