I Listen To Halsey And Lana Del Rey And I Am Proud

Being a bully is so overrated nowadays, guys.

I’ve always possessed a strange taste in the hobbies and interests I choose to embark in. Nine times out of ten, whenever I state an opinion or a like that I have just uncovered, I get weird looks or questions about what exactly that hobby or interest consists of. And no, I am not trying to single myself off as the weird one or the black sheep of the group. It’s been oddly reoccurring that my opinions aren’t quite the same as others. I like it that way. It makes things interesting in a conversation. But, there’s one opinion that I have that has stuck with me for a couple of years now. I’ve recently noticed a sort of hate floating around the subject, and it’s quite confusing for me.

I love the music both Halsey and Lana Del Rey produce.

I know that there are countless of you out there that agree with me on this one. And in that case, you will most likely agree with me whenever I say I have recently seen tons of hate on the two. There are gifs and pictures and jokes on how Lana can’t sing, or how Halsey is trying to be someone different, or how both or just one of the two release strange, unpopular music. And I just sit there in awe at how strong the hate is being sent towards the two, which, by the way, leans more on Lana d\Del Rey’s end than Halsey’s.

I listen to Halsey and Lana strictly due to their lyrics. They are so poetic and the songs they sing-speak on taboo instances, such as abuse and mental illnesses. Their lyrics are hypnotizing and magical, telling a story with every hymn. Even though both have uniquely different styles, they are alike in that way. They tend to speak on things that other singers steer from. And I mean, the music behind the lyrics is pretty catchy and calming too, of course. There's a serene mood that accompanies the listener of each and every song.

Point is, as I stated about Christmas music, everyone has different opinions on what’s good music and what’s not. And that is completely okay. I just don’t understand why some people feel the need to bully certain singers for doing what they love and what makes them happy. Why bully or send hate mail to two people that may be slightly different than the others? Isn't that what's "in" nowadays? Being different? Music is the way they express themselves, and there’s nothing more beautiful to me than seeing someone establish pure happiness towards something they’ve accomplished. I love Halsey’s and Lana’s music, and there’s not one GIF, meme, or cruel tweet that could sway my opinion.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
