A List of Feel-Good Songs

Music works as a form of de-stressing for some, opening the minds of those who listen...taking them to a different world. I keep music very near and dear to my heart. My Spotify playlists are my babies and I would do almost anything to protect them from any form of virtual danger that may occur. Of course I'm not being serious, but I thoroughly enjoy music and I don't know what I'd do without it in my life. The following songs are all feel-good, motivating, and danceable songs that I tend to listen to wayyy too often.

1. The Sound

(The 1975) This song is amazing to listen to for long or short road trips, runs/walks, studying sessions, and more.

2. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go

(Wham!) An all-time classic that can get anyone in the dancing mood!

3. Summer Nights

(John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John - Grease) ....this and every song from Grease, YES, just yes.

4. ANY ORIGINAL DISNEY MOVIE SONG

I'm extremely biased as I'm almost always singing or humming a Disney song, but they're the best, and if you think differently....are you even human?

Some of my all-time favorites are:

I'll Make A Man Out of You

(Mulan)...just a tad (extremely) sexist, but it's a classic. Mulan is a very empowering movie for all to watch. Seeing the process of feminism and determination shine through, fighting all different types standards and stereotypes, Mulan teaches all young minds to fight for yourself and for the ones you love.

Part of Your World

(The Little Mermaid) Have you seen Claire Ryann Crosby sing this? If not, PLEASE go watch it right now....it'll save a life.

A Whole New World

(Aladdin) A song about adventure and seeing the world, also extremely catchy and a great song to have stuck in your head all day.

Hakuna Matata

(The Lion King) Such a fun and catchy song that allows you to feel carefree!

and.....

How Far I'll Go

(Auli'i Cravalho - Moana) For the past few months I have been addicted to this song! Both Auli'i Cravalho's and Alessia Cara's versions are amazing, they even performed it live together at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards. The song is relatable, soothing, beautiful, and easy to memorize...plus, the movie is so darn adorable and inspiring!

and seriously....the list could go on forever.

5. Break Free

(Ariana Grande) written by Zedd, Max Martin, and Savan Kotecha, this song has a powerful message behind it as singer, Ariana Grande made it very obvious during her live performances of the song that she is celebrating equality, love, and more. Ariana has always been one to spread peace, love, and kindness everywhere she goes. She's accepting of all, for her to incorporate such a meaningful message into a song, all I can say is, you go girl!!

6. Dancing Queen

(Meryl Streep, Julie Walters & Christine Baranski - Mamma Mia) Need to dance it out? Here you go!

(thank you to those who picked up on that Grey's Anatomy reference)

7. Little Brother

(Ella Vos) A soothing and catchy song for any moment, also a good song to use as an alarm.

8. Man! I Feel Like a Woman

(Shania Twain) It's obvious why this song is on the list right? It's a bop and makes EVERYONE feel some type of way.

9. Don't Stop Believin'

(Journey) If you don't know all of the words, are you even human?

10. All You Need Is Love

(The Beatles) The title says it all.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?

Consider these 21 questions to ask in the talking stage when getting to know that new guy or girl you just started talking to:

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
