pro·cras·ti·nate (verb)
* to be slow or late about doing something that should be done : to delay doing something until a later time because you do not want to do it, because you are lazy, etc.
And here I am writing this paper late because, well I am truly the queen of procrastination.
Class... Never late, always right on time. I set my alarm an hour before class. That's a perfect amount of time for me to hit snooze about 5 times. Giving me just around 10 minutes to get out of bed, get dressed, brush my teeth, and get to class. This is the exact reason why I always look homeless.
Deadlines... Let's just say I could have 36 years to write a paper and I would still wait till the day before it's due to do it. A deadline is actually kind of my best friend because without it I would NEVER get anything that needed to be done, done.
Projects... This is the worst thing to procrastinate on, especially in college. Most projects that I have are very large ones that need at least a weeks time, and you are usually told at the begging of the course that you're going to do it. But, I am always the person to wait the day right before the project is due to start one it. Then I'm making myself stay up all night to finish it and then I am crazy tired when I present it. Somehow I still manage to get a passing grade on it.
Test... I have made it very possible to wait to study for a test an hour before taking it and pass. But, I wouldn't recommend this one to people who aren't fast readers or who can't remember things quickly. It's my best but hardest tactic of a procrastinator.
List... I am a person that will write down a list so I avoid procrastination, but somehow always manage to do it. It's like I write it down to mentally feel like I am accomplishing something, but I'm actually not doing jack shit.
Parties... An odd thing to procrastinate on, but yes I still manage to do it. I will decide that 6 o'clock on a Saturday night is the perfect time for a 4-hour nap. This is allowing me to wake up at 10 p.m right when parties are usually bumping'. So, I am that person that walks into a party at like midnight trying to play catch up with all of my friends, and end up staying out till 6 a.m. This is the most fun type of procrastination.
Procrastination isn't necessarily a bad thing. I like to think that I am allowing myself to get older and wiser, therefore I do better. Pretty good logic if I do say so myself. Then again I am always rushed at the last minute for everything I do. It is a very stressful life to live and if you can avoid procrastinating then please do.
