College Life As Told By Disney Villians

Our beloved childhood heroes are no longer the relatable ones.

“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."--Walt Disney

We are the generation raised to believe in Disney movies. Growing up, however, has made us discover a few flaws in our beloved characters.
For example: it might not be the best idea to change for a guy. Also, if some gets close enough to kiss you while you’re sleeping: clock him.

Don’t get me wrong—Our Disney Princes and Princesses are still the best—but we now know that impromptu musical numbers and fun-loving, animal sidekicks can’t save us from everything (only most things). So, we “just keep swimming” our way through college (sorry, I had to). As we open new doors and travel down new paths, we have discovered a newfound respect for a certain breed that were never thought much of before: the Disney Villains.

You react and relate to the biggest and baddest whenever you are:

2. Reacting to Your Boy-Crazy Friend

3. Being the Babysitter

4. Being Babysat

5. Realizing that Having a Social Life in College is Important

Grades do matter, but a social life keeps you sane. If you do want to read a book for fun, that's fine. Just make sure that it's not on your syllabus.

6. Walking into Drama on Your Res-Hall Floor

And pretending that you're not listening in when you walk by.

7. Hearing that the Campus Has a New Bug

Don't. Touch. Anything.

8. Flaking Out On Plans and Classes

And then pretending that you never meant to.

9. Being Shown Off While You're Back at Home

You don't know your parent's friends. That won't stop them from showing you off to every stranger. Get ready to answer the same stock questions about how you're doing in college, while you mentally scream at yourself for getting out of bed that afternoon.

10. Hearing a High School Student Say "College Sounds Easy."

7. Waking Up On Any Monday

via GIPHY

More like: "Waking up any time earlier than Noon."

8. Any Girl Walking To Tigerland on A Saturday Night

9. Driving in Baton Rouge Traffic

Enough said.

And Finally:

10. Realizing That Maleficent Might Have Actually Done Aurora a Favor

That is probably the only way you will ever have a good night's sleep in college.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
