We are all excited to get away from our parents and head off to college, but what about our dogs? Living away from home can be a blessing and a curse. College is full of new, fun and exciting opportunities and you get to be in a whole new world, but you don't have your furry friend by your side anymore! This is the worst feeling ever; You don't get to open your door after school and have your dog greet you with pure joy and you don't get to fall asleep with them curled up by your feet. If you left your best friend at home and are having major separation anxiety you probably have experienced these things at college.
1. You stop whatever you're doing at any sign of a dog
I cannot tell you the number of times my roommates will stop the car in traffic to stare at a puppy for just a millisecond longer. We need to squeeze in doggy time any chance we get of course!
2. You would walk to the moon and back for any dog in the world
It does not matter what size, shape, breed or gender, you will defend any dog. If somebody says "that dog isn't even cute," you have the perfect witty comeback.
3. Whatever it takes, you will see that dog
If your friend's boyfriend's cousin posted a cute Snapchat of a puppy rolling in the leaves, you're going to find out what apartment complex they live in. You will go to the ends of the earth to see a dog.
4. You plot a way to have a dog in the dorm or apartment
You don't care if the RA could find out or you might get an unreasonably expensive fee for sneaking in a puppy, you have a plan and it will work.
5. You ask your family to send you pictures and FaceTime you no matter what time of day
Your childhood or family dog is miles away and all you want is to see that little doggy face everyday like you used to.
Dogs are an essential part of your life and believe me, you will get even more dog obsessed as time away from home goes by.
