12 Reasons Every College Student Needs A Dog

Dogs are man's best friend for a reason. They're loyal, loving, playful and an endless source of happiness. With the amount of crazy college has packed into every day, here are some reasons I believe every college student needs a dog in their life.

1. They greet you at the door.

Because there's nothing than better than opening your door and your dog jumping all over you because they're so excited you're home.

2. They're always happy.

How can you not be happy after seeing this face?

3. They give you an excuse to be active.

Every college student knows how challenging it is to convince yourself to go work out, but if you have to go walk your dog every day you'll be getting your work out in and making sure your dog doesn't turn your living room into the bathroom.

4. They'll never judge you.

They don't care if you haven't showered in two days or if you're on your fourth glass of wine. They'll still love you just the same.

5. They're always down for a nap.

6. They actually think you're cool and they genuinely want to hang out with you.

Why would you choose to hang out with anyone else when your dog already thinks you're the coolest person alive?

7. If you don't feel like moving from the couch, they'll lay there with you all day.

They like cuddling just as much as you. So turn on your latest Netflix show and get ready for a relaxing day with your best friend.

8. They'll comfort you.

Whether you just failed a test or you're fighting with a friend, your pup will be there to comfort you through it all.

9. They'll make you laugh.

He just wants to go swimming!

10. They'll make you very popular with your friends.

I mean, they may start choosing to hang out with you just because of the dog, but at least they're hanging out with you.

11. They'll always be your best friend.

And the only person you'd share your hot dog with.

12. They love you unconditionally.

No matter what, your dog will always love you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
