There’s always that one person with a little bit of a wild side. Some say that being a wild child is a bad thing, but being wild doesn’t mean that you are a psycho. Being wild by definition means being unrestrained, especially in the pursuit of pleasure. It’s a way of living life.
1. Mom is your A1
No matter where life takes me, my mom will always be my biggest supporter. She’s the one person who always understands my jokes. All of the crazy adventurous stuff in life, that you’re not supposed to tell your parentals, I tell my mother about and she takes it with a grain of salt and a laugh. Most people get embarrassed by their mother’s in public, my mother gets embarrassed by me in public (:
2. The piggies are always painted.
You never know when your feet will be a dashboard, tapping out a tune. You must always be prepared for dancing in your bare feet after a long day. When your day isn’t going the way you anticipated, never fear because your piggies look spectacular! Something about having my toenails painted a bright orange, makes me feel like I could concur the world.
3. The number of guy friends outweighs girl friends.
It’s always been a stereotype that loose women have more guy friends than they do girl friends. Wrong. When you’re not much of a girly girl, the male population is easier to get along with. Guys are always down to shoot stuff, talk crap, play call of duty, watch a sports game or just go riding around listening to the radio. Often I get in trouble for flirting with guys, but in all reality I just relate to them more.
4. Music playlist go from here to Timbuktu.
Country may be my go to but I listen to everything and anything. One-minute I could be rapping with Lil’ Wayne and the next Billy Idol and I could be giving a rebel yell. Shania Twain is always a must. Every now and then you have to bump to My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas. A certain music genre does not define me. “If the music is good, you dance!” I love when people stereotype me as a hick for listening to country music, but their eyes get wide when I know every word to a Fall Out Boy song. I know lots of music. Not just one genre.
5. You’re always a joy to pull over.
I have yet to get nervous when being stopped by a cop. They say being a girl has its perks, but gender means nothing when you can giggle and shoot the bull with a state rod as he runs your license plate. I almost look forward to getting pulled over at this point in my life. The most interesting conversations take place on the side of the road with the berries and cherries flashing behind you. Or in one particular situation, with a park ranger bright lighting you with his side mirror. They always go back to their cars with a tip of their hat and laughter in their eyes. What can I say? Natural born charmer!
6. There’s no such thing as a stranger.
Being friendly is second nature and I could not tell you what being shy means. People are always nervous for the first day of something and I just take it and run with it. It’s amazing how easy it is to make new friends or meet new people. You know you’re doing it right when your friends giggle at the way you can make people you don’t even know at a gas station laugh at your straight forwardness. Here’s to the conversations had with the man at Habachi grill.
7. The hair is ALWAYS a mess.
No matter the time or effort put into the fro, it’s going to do whatever the hell it wants to do. Ponytail? Nope. Straightened? Nope. Its best to just let it do its own thing and leave it curly and wild. No amount of hairspray or gel can tame the beast. But that’s just as well. The best look my mane has? It’s called the, I just rolled out of bed…8 hours ago. Its just hair. Much more to worry about in life than your baby hairs peeking out of a baseball cap. Embrace the wild!
8. Adventure is everywhere.
There is no such thing as sitting still when you are a wild spirit. Something about being locked in one place for too long feels like a cage. Every couple of hours you have to keep moving. There is way too much stuff in the world to see and so little time to see it. Adventures are everywhere. Going to Walmart may lead to going on a long backroad just listening to music. A simple drive to no where, leads to an adventure of a life time to some unplanned destination. Time has no meaning when you’re free.
9. There is no such thing as a filter.
My mom always said, think before you speak. Sometimes that doesn’t always work. Being perfectly blunt has worked for me more times than not. The use of expletives is something that I excel at, although not always best in some situations…it works for me. When trying to get a point across or giving someone advise, my words come out harsh or rude but I don’t mean for them to. I’m just being honest. Sarcasm is in fact a second language.
10. I wish I could share my confidence with everyone I come in contact with.
Life is way too short to be scared to do what you want. Who cares what anyone else thinks about the decisions you make with your life? Do you want to go up and talk to that boy? Do it! You want to wear those skinny jeans that fit a little too tight? Do it! I promise if you give that lady who is being rude to the waiter a piece of your mind, you won’t regret it. Chop your hair off if that is what you want! The world has lost its gumption, and we need to gain it back. Confidence is the best weapon you can have.
11. Rolling with the punches.
Life isn’t perfect. Nobody makes it out alive. There is no reason to drive yourself to the brink of destruction from worrying yourself. Take life as it comes. When I start stressing out or think life is too much, I reassess. Will this mean anything in five years? Is it worth pulling my hair out over? Probably not. There are many important things in life to worry about but worrying about them won’t fix the world. Live life from one punch to the next. Just Breathe. That’s what I do.
