Life As The Mom Friend, As Told By Todd Chrisley

Being the mom friend is something all of us know all too well. When hanging out with friends you spend more time planning and being worried about where everyone is than you are actually having fun. This past year I took a trip with a big group to Chicago, and I was counting each person as they came out of stores we went into and making sure I kept track of everyone. Being the mom friend can be a bit stressful at times, but it feels so natural for some of us. So, here is life as a mom friend as told by Todd Chrisley.

1. You give your friends advice on the clothes they wear.

Of course, you love to shop for yourself and appreciate your friends' advice, but your main concern when shopping is making sure your friends look good. You don't want your friends walking out of any store with an outfit or makeup that will make them look trashy. We all want to be seen as attractive and presentable in everyday life. As Todd says, "Class, not ass."

2. Sometimes you have to steer your friends straight.

Sometimes you really have to step up like a parent and make sure your friends are going down the right path. You must lay down the law sometimes and make sure they are making the right decision. Nothing hurts more than watching your friends get hurt over something you could have prevented.

3. You make sure your friends put themselves first, and you have to remember that for yourself too.

Everyone deserves to put themselves first, and your friends are no exception. As teenagers, we often put school and relationships ahead of ourselves and our health. We must step back and realize that we are our own first priority. Getting that paper done three days early isn't worth it if you'll be sick for the next week. While making sure our friends put themselves first, we must make ourselves a priority too.

4. You make sure everyone stays on schedule.

As the "mom", you keep everyone on time and on schedule. Before you go out for the day, you know your plan, and you spent a lot of time on that plan. You can veer off schedule for a quick stop at Dunkin or Starbucks, but you like to keep to the plan you had in mind.

5. You're always there to give advice, no matter what it is.

You may not have to give advice on how to properly put a condom on, but you're there for any advice your friends need from you. You're there as the mom friend, there to give advice that your friends maybe can't ask their mom about yet.

6. You can be a little crazy sometimes, but your intentions are (almost) always good.

Your friends may tell you, you go a bit overboard sometimes, or you're a bit off your rocker. They all must know you have the best intentions in your heart, but you may go a bit farther than they want at times.

Overall, being the mom friend feels so natural at times, but it comes with a lot of responsibility a lot are not fond of. Todd Chrisley reminds us of the things mom friends must deal with. This one goes out to all the moms in every friend group.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
