Have you ever just wished that you could hurry up and get through school just so you can grow up and go to college? Some kids wait their entire life to see what college will be like for them. College is something that K-12 grade teachers, councilors and your parents prepare you for, because they have already been through it all. College can be expensive and not all kids are able to attend even if their dream is to go. I know that I was pretty excited to finally graduate from high school and get going on my path for life. College seemed like a risk free experience that gives you the full grown adult experience. To be honest I feel like I rushed through life. College is great but its not all that it leads up to. In reality its just another school that gives you more knowledge in a shorter period of time.

Life can give you challenges as well as some good surprises. College can be a blessing or a nightmare. My first year of college was challenging to say the least. I did not do as well as I was hoping I would. I am a smart girl with a full life ahead of me. I may have my distractions but hey life's too short to just sit alone all day. Granted you have to sit alone at some point so you can do homework and other things so that you at least attempt to pass all your courses. At the beginning of the year I wrote a speech about life and how it can represent a keyboard. I like it because it shows the good and the bad.

Going though life I have had some ups and downs, faced several challenges and encountered many fears. Some I have been successful at and some I have failed by running the other direction away from it all. However, one quote that reminds me of how I have to keep trying is this quote I have heard from a few band friends along the way: “Life is like a piano. The white keys represent happiness and the black keys shows us sadness, but as you go through life's journey, remember that the black keys also make music.” This quote tells me that there are several things that remind me that in the end everything is going to be alright. When the quote speaks of white keys bringing happiness it is defining that life is full of happy memories, and you alone have to find them and experience them for yourself before you can truly know the definition of true happiness. Some of the happiest memories I have that is “music to my ears” is when I am able to spend time with the people I love the most: my family. Spending time with them is like being on cloud nine. Every moment is valuable and you have no idea how much longer you have with them.

Sadness however is being represented by the black keys of the piano. These keys are representing fears, horrible memories or moments and reminding us that this world is not always as perfect as we want it to be. Sadness can over come the brightest memory we cherish in a blink of an eye just like the black keys of the piano can cover the melody of the white keys in a music piece. My black keys have been overpowering me in my piano life lately because just recently I have had to experience death in the family and death among friends. The black keys show that life is to short and that we need to live out of the shadows. We all pray for the best but the black keys of our piano life over powers our emotions we express daily.

This is a very emotional speech that gives you the idea that you need to live life to the fullest and never let anything get in your way. Even if you think you its hopeless, all you have to do is power through it and that exactly what I am doing with my college experience.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
