Life After Living In A Sorority House

Life After Living In A Sorority House

  1. You have a room to yourself, which should be a good thing right? But you catch yourself missing your old musty sorority house room. You realize that for the past several months you fell asleep to the sound of your roommates walking around while you were laying in bed, or hearing their friends' Snapchats that they would play right before they drifted off to sleep. You catch yourself missing the roommate who would watch Grey's Anatomy every night before bed, the shine from her computer screen being a constant reminder that you aren't the last one up.
  2. You have a kitchen full of food at home that you can walk into and eat whatever you'd like. You don't have to worry that all the Toaster Strudel's might be gone by the time you wake up and make the trip down the stairs to the kitchen. But at home you catch yourself missing those life chats with whatever girl was making breakfast for herself that day, or the random cookies or brownies that girls would make and then just leave on a plate for your enjoyment.
  3. You have time to yourself. But it's kind of fun to get your friends walking into your room at all hours just to say, "get up, we're going out," or "get up, we're getting food."
  4. Now back at home I'm happy to walk into my shower without a shower caddy and without flip flops. But at home I don't get to blast ghetto rap with the girl in the shower next to me and attempt to have a conversation with her at the same time (that takes talent).
  5. You realize that it's almost Monday and all of your friends aren't coming to the house to dine with you before chapter.
  6. You also realize that you need to repaint your nails and you can't conveniently walk down the hall to borrow that top coat of nail polish that everyone keeps saying is the best stuff known to man.
  7. You even find yourself missing the nights that you would cram for an exam with five other girls who were also taking that exam the next day, all in your pajamas and slippers eating cereal from the kitchen.
  8. You can't help but find yourself missing the Friday nights when you get back to the house, eat food, and talk about what everyone else did that night in the living room till 2 a.m.
  9. Finally, you come to the realization that even though living with 60+ girls can be crazy and sometimes overwhelming, you loved every second of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
