Ever since we started school way back in kindergarten, Summer break has always been the light at the end of the tunnel of every year.
I remember the feeling I would have on the last day of school through the years, always so bittersweet. The end of something that has grown so comfortable to us, laced with the excitement of the start of something so captivating. Summer is the free spirit and wild child of the seasons. The sun is out and freedom is ringing everywhere. The older we get, the more it seems to mean to us.
While some of us may work and some may take classes Summer tends to offer a break from the constant pressure of the school year. It gives you a second to breathe or for us college students almost 4 months. Once you reach the college age Summer starts to be the length it should've been all along. Summer not only refreshes your mind, body, and soul, but it gives you a chance to change and rebuild. It gives you time to reflect and make the changes you want to. It almost has that New Years vibe to it.
I am looking forward to so much this summer. Going away to college makes home seem almost like a different world and I can't wait to spend some time there. I am eager for good times with the people I've known for ages, to be drenched with nostalgia at the sight of the places I spent my years growing up, and to be reacquainted with the food that makes my heart skip a beat.
I have high hopes to finally be hard on myself and accomplish the things I've wanted to for so long. I want to become a healthier me. I want to put time into my hobbies and be proud of the results. I want to spend time doing what I love and brush off that feeling of the weight of the world on my shoulders that we all feel way to often.
Cheers to new beginnings and Summer 2016!
