A Letter To The People Who Got Me Through The Worst

A little thank you for everything you have done for me these past few months.

Dear Mom and Dad,

Thank you for everything you do for me. You were one of the first few people on the scene and from that point on you were with me for every second. I truly don’t know what I would have done without you that day. Mom, you took over the second you got there, stepping up the way you did must have been so difficult. I don’t think I could ever see my child like that let alone put the neck brace on them. Dad, you weren’t really allowed to do anything. You had to stand off to the side and watch and that might have been more difficult than actually helping.

You guys loaded me into a helicopter, unable to join me, and began to drive for what must have been the longest, most stressful drive of your life. But before you left, you made sure that Nathan and Aidan had somewhere to go and all the stuff they needed. I admire you so much for being able to keep your cool during that nerve-racking time. You dealt with calls, texts, and social media posts as well as getting my phone call once I got settled in. I am still amazed at how calm you seemed.

Once you got to the hospital you never left my side. You were there taking turns holding my hand through all the good news and the bad. You were there for every stitch and every tear. I was so blessed to have you there for everything. Once I was released, you helped me get dressed and made me as comfortable as I could for the ride home.

After the long, panicky drive home, you helped me unload while talking to people who had gathered my stuff. Mom, you helped me shower, got me dressed, and helped me get into bed. Dad, you started the long crazy process of figuring everything out.

Thank you guys so much for everything you have done for me. I truly don’t know where I would be without you. You have been so supportive of me and the decisions I have made. Driving me back and forth to school while keeping things organized at home. Taking me to doctor’s appointments and making sure I don’t overdo it. If it weren’t for you guys, I wouldn’t be nearly as healthy as I am now. I love you guys so much. Thank you for everything.

Love,

Your Grateful Daughter

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
