There was definitely a time when I called you my best friend. Whether it was in grade school or in high school, there was a time when were thicker than thieves. I knew I could always call on you whenever I needed a friend. Then high school/college happened, and we just went to different schools. We both wanted different things in life, and that is okay. We would talk for the first couple months a lot, but then we both just got side tracked and we talked less and less. Eventually it turned out that it would be the Instagram like on a random picture that would spark a text saying “I miss you!” We would sometimes try to make plans to hang out for a movie or a quick cup of coffee, but even that wasn't able to happen. We never thought it would come to this, but sadly it has.
There are no ill feelings here, just sometimes people grow up, and we grow apart. It doesn’t help that we are on two different campuses, or we happen to be on the same one, we just both got so busy. We joined different clubs, took different classes, we both also made our own friends, and wanted to spend all our time with them. I do not want you to think that I “ditched” you. You were one of my best friends, and life just happened. It was not something we foresaw. Even though we said that we would never grow apart from each other, it turned out to be an unrealistic expectation. When we get older, it is possible to find that person that you stay best friends with, but when we are children, it is a little tougher because we never know what life will bring us. There is just one thing that I want you to know. No matter what you are doing, or no matter what is going on in your life, I will still be here for you.
When someone becomes my best friend, that bond never goes away. It is impossible to just forget about someone who had that big of an impact in my life. If you are in need or in trouble, I am one phone call away, and I won’t hesitate. If you want to vent about some professor, just pick up the phone. If you need to complain about a stupid boy, I will sit there and listen. We have the type of bond that we can go without talking for months, and we will pick up the phone and act like we still talk every day. You are also always welcome to come and see me when you just have that feeling that you need to get away from whatever it is. I will still forever be your biggest cheerleader, and I will always be here for you, even if we don’t talk or hang out like we used to. Even though life just got in the way, I will love you always, as one of my best friends.
