An Open Letter To My Very Best Friend

Thank you for being you.

You encounter thousands, maybe even millions of different people throughout your life. Some come in your life for a few minutes or just a few years, and very few are there through it all. Not everyone you meet will end up being worth your time, but sometimes you meet someone that you know isn't going anywhere. I met that person in kindergarten. However, she hated me throughout elementary school and we didn't become best friends until sixth grade. Since that day, though, we have been inseparable.

Stan,

You are quite literally the greatest human being I know. I don't know how I would have survived the awkward middle school years, crazy high school years, and now college without you. You've been by my side through everything, so it's difficult to sum up in one short article just how much you mean to me.

Thank you. Thank you for the random texts, ugly snapchats, and late night heart-to-hearts. Thank you for being there for me through the good, the bad, and the (very) ugly. Thank you for making me laugh through the tears. Thank you for being there through the fights, the tears, and the heartbreak. Thank you for being a friend I don't always deserve, but I am always beyond blessed to have.

Thank you for accepting and understanding me. You know what I mean when I can't find the right words. You know what I'm going to say before I say it. You know when I should go out or when I should stay in and you're willing to tell me which to do. You taught me how to be myself and, most importantly, you helped me find who that person is.

Thank you for never leaving. When things get tough our friendship only grows stronger. Calling you my best friend is an understatement; you are so much more than that. I can't wait for the day you are standing by my side at the alter. You are quite literally the only one I trust to keep my emotions under control on my wedding day.

I am so blessed to have found a soulmate in a best friend like you. I wouldn't trade our inside jokes, late night drives, or KB runs for the world. Thank you for always brightening my day with your infectious laugh and gorgeous, genuine smile. I can't even begin to count all the times you've been there to listen to me, give me advice, and just let me rant. It takes so much to be so gracious and comforting and you do it with ease.

So for that, I say thank you.

Here's to the millions of memories and adventures we have yet to experience together.

Ly,

Knezz

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
