A Letter To My Younger Sisters

Anyone with younger sisters understands how great it is.

To my wonderful younger sisters,

First off, let me say getting to be an older sister is one of the biggest blessings in my life. I may not have taught you how to contour your face or give you good fashion advice, but I can teach you how to use proper lifting form, how to stand up and how to be confrontational about what you believe in. Even though I'm the older sister, it seems like I've learned more from you than you have from me. Like how to be kind and genuine, and how to love something so much, you're willing to go practice it for hours a day. I am continually inspired by your drive. If it's for animals or golf, when you love something, you grab it and make your dreams come true.

Although I know when we were younger, I vividly remember us fighting over who got which Barbie doll, what we should name the baby doll and what game we should play in the pool. I'm glad we have matured and grown past that stage and are best friends. I know no matter how unlady-like or rude we are to each other, we will always have the undeniable bond of sisterhood.

I pray that you find a passion that you truly love and that you continue to be motivated to pursue and achieve those dreams. I will continue to pray for your future husband. I pray he is the godly man that He has created for you. While I pray for him, I also pray that you know that you are the moon, sun and the sky and that no one lets you believe different. I pray for your unborn children, that they become children just like you and I pray you know that you can and should send them to me often.

I am not sure what I did or how I got so blessed to have you as my younger sisters. Life without you two would be unbelievably boring. I wouldn't have someone to make Slurpee runs with or someone to constantly bug, and our house would be way quieter. I still find staying home with you much more enjoyable than going out. The nights of playing board games, going to the dog park or watching the same episode of "Friends" will always be fun, because you guys always find a way to make it that much better.

I know we won't always live in the same house together, or even the same state maybe; but we will always be best friends, and I will always be able to pick up the phone and ask you for anything. I will always be in your corner, and will always stand up for you even when you don't want me to. I am so lucky to have you guys as my sisters, mainly because that means you can never get rid of me.

Love,
Your big sister

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
