A Letter To My Big

Dear Big,

I want to start off by saying I never thought I would be in a sorority. I never thought that I would say the word, "Big" with a huge smile on my face. I honestly never thought that I would be lucky enough to get you. The day that I found out that you were my big is one of my most favorite memories. I don't think I've ever been so relieved. I would have been happy to get any one of our sisters as a big, but I'm so thankful and blessed to have gotten you.

I owe you a ridiculous amount of thank you's. Thank you for always supporting me and steering me away from my ideas that will most likely turn into mistakes. Thank you for giving me medicine and making me spicy chicken noodle soup when I was unbelievably sick (it sounds weird but I swear it saved my life). Thank you for encouraging me to try new things. Thank you for constantly giving me the best advice and for making me laugh until I'm convinced I have a six pack. Thank you for continuously having my back and being proud to have me as your little.

I could go on a full blown rampage of thanking you because the truth is you deserve so much recognition for being such a staple in my life. I haven't looked up to that many people in my life, and I've looked up to you since before we were officially big and little. It's hard to imagine that I haven't had you in my life until now.

Big, you're my role model. You are so driven, hard working, and selfless. You constantly inspire me to be a better person whenever I'm with you. I'm striving to have as much compassion in my heart like you do. You are such a bad ass through and through. You have so much love in your heart for everyone. You are the kindest individual that I have ever met. Knowing I have you gets me through the rough days and knowing you'll be there to celebrate with me on the great days makes them even better.

I promise I am always going to be in your corner, be someone to talk to about absolutely anything, and a shoulder to lean on. I promise I'll be the best friend you can run to with anything and everything. I promise I'll make you proud.

I can't wait for all the upcoming adventures and stories. I couldn't live without you.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
