A Letter To My Next Best Friend

I'm about to go into my second semester of college and I still haven't found you. I know they said it takes time to make friends in college but I didn't think it'd take me until second semester. Just know I'm shy so I'm not the most sociable person, which I guess is why I haven't met you yet. Thank you though, thank you for waiting for me and for being the best best friend I know you'll be.

I know I'm shy and not very social, which is why we haven't met yet, but hopefully you'll be there soon. Whether it's in my next math class or I just meet you at some random event I decide to go to, it was so great to meet you. Little did we both know that one conversation turned into the best friendship I'll ever have.

Thank you for being great and being you. Thanks for putting up with all my drama and for making late night Cook Out runs with me. Thank you for being the best friend I could have.

They say college is where you'll meet friends you'll have for life, and hopefully that's the friendship I'll have with you. Maybe you'll be my maid of honor or the God mother to my children, but who knows because we haven't met yet. Soon, I hope!

Thank you for being my fashion guide and motivator. For being my support system and my tutor. Thank you for always being there for me through thick and thin and for helping me through life.

Please be patient with me because like I said, I'm shy. I won't know you want to hang out because I'm too worried about what you really think of me. Nor will I know that we should live together next year because I might be too afraid to ask. I'm not always the best friend at first, but give me a few weeks and we'll be inseparable.

Thank you for being my inspiration and my keeper. Thanks for being my inner voice telling me to go to bed or that "it's okay, watch another episode." Thank you for bringing me ice cream when I've had a bad day in class and my cramps are killing me.

Overall, thank you for being the very best best friend a girl can have. Even though we don't know each other yet, I already know I can always count on you whether it's for advice or for a good laugh. I really, honestly cannot wait to meet you soon and start bonding with you right away. I hope you love me as much as I love you!

Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
