Nerves and excitement run through your body on graduation day. As I am getting ready to graduate in the near future and start my new life, so are you.
A few years ago in a time of hardship for our family, you decided to make a life-changing and inspiring decision to go back to college and change your profession into being a medical assistant. Being in your 50's and going to college with students in their 20's is unimaginable.
In this ironic situation of my mother graduating before me, I feel like I am your mother watching my baby grow up into the strong, beautiful, and independent woman you are! It feels like yesterday when we were complaining about homework together and driving off to school together like best friends (which we are)!
This is your new beginning, Mom; do what you want to do with your life. I will be going on my own path to college as you will go on your new path to your new profession that you have worked so hard to strive for.
Throughout your journey to get your double education, there have been too many times where you have doubted that you had the strength and ability to continue with the medical assistant program. Along with that doubt, there has been continuous support and confidence that I have given you, as you have given me throughout my schooling.
Mom, words cannot explain how proud of you I am on going back to school and graduating soon. 51 years old with a 4.0 GPA is the most amazing accomplishment. I just wish that you weren't so mad at yourself for getting low 90's on a few tests! That is better than I could ever do!
Being a single mother of one (two if you count the hyperactive dog) and doing everything else for others, I am so happy and proud that you took these two years out of your life doing what you want to do.
You are truly my number-one role model, Mom, my inspiration. You have walked me through almost 12 years of school and are about to lead me off to college to be on my own and make my life the way I want it to be, just like you have done. You are so incredibly motivational, especially when you came home from work exhausted, but still felt the need to get in a few hours of studying and homework. When I am a mother one day, I surely hope that I have the balance in life like you do. I hope to make my kids just as proud as you have made me.
Watching you walk up on that stage with your cap and gown after your name has just been called, I will soon watch you grab onto that diploma that you deserve the most. This is your time to shine, Mom, and I will be the proudest daughter in the whole crowd.
