To My Soul Sisters,
Thank you.
Thank you for being my motivation since the first day of conditioning in August. For being my role models, inspiration, and the people I find joy in. Thank you for the pain. Whether it was from laughing, core day, or colliding in practice; whatever the pain was, we experienced it together.
Thank you for the countless memories. Thank you for the dedication and heart you showed toward our team. It meant more than you know. I don't think any other team played with had more heart than we did. That was our secret weapon. I have never been a part of team that has had a bond this strong, a bond so irreplaceable.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for not trying my absolute hardest in each and every practice. I'm sorry for having an attitude when I was having a bad day. I didn't mean to take it out on you. I'm sorry for the times that I hit you in the face, or stepped on your foot under the net, or took your ball. Also, I'm sorry that I left you to go to college; trust me I didn't want to.
College is great, but if I had to pick I'd choose you guys every time. It's not the same without seeing your faces almost every day, walking through the halls, and eating lunch together.
I miss you.
I miss team dinners, and pre-game poops. I miss secret sister gift exchanging, trying to be as sneaky as possible to make sure nobody found out who we had. Even though, let's be honest, everyone knew who had who. I miss our bus ride concerts, singing "Rock Me Mama", and making sure we harmonized correctly. And I really miss winning with you guys, I couldn't have asked for a better season.
Each of you have a huge heart and an even bigger smile. I learned something from each of you. I learned how to be a team player and stay disciplined, how to set my expectations high, and how to bite my tongue and smile through the pain. I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls to share my senior year with. You guys definitely made it one that I will never forget.
Despite our shortcoming of a perfect season, I don't regret anything. I would give anything to have one last team dinner, to listen to one more warm-up CD, to put on my jersey and those rank knee pads one more time. I would give anything to play one more game with you guys. I have an unconditional love for all of you. Every single one of you holds a special place in my heart, and nobody can take that away from us.
P.S. Every time I hear the National Anthem, I hold my own pinky.
P.S.S. I wish you guys were right here, right now.
Love Always, Kat
