Thank you.

A Letter To My Freshman Roommate
Alyssa Giglio

Dear Roomie,

As it comes to the end of second semester, we are all beginning to freak out about finals and move out day, I would like to take a moment and thank you for everything you have done for me this year.

Thank you for the endless laughter

From inside jokes to laughing at literally nothing, you were always there to share a laugh with. Whether we were laughing at one another or laughing at some dumb sign around campus there was never a moment we weren't giggling even a little.

Thank you for always getting food with me

Whether it was McDonalds at 2 am or the dining hall at 5 pm, you were always willing to be my last minute dinner date. You never questioned the "diet" I was on as I bit into that Big Mac, and I never questioned you for the ridiculous amounts of McChickens that were devoured in this past year. Thanks for always letting me tear into your snacks you just bought that day, and thank you for never getting mad when I finished the whole bag of chips.

Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on

Trust me, there were plenty of moments where crying was involved freshman year. Whether it was drama with friends or just a lack of sleep you always knew what to say. You were my personal therapist this year, and I could never thank you enough for all the life advice you gave me, probably followed by a tub of ice-cream.

Thank you for supporting me through my mental breakdowns.

You were practically my at home therapist. Whether it was being stressed out with school or the drama circulating my friends, you always knew the right thing to say. You always took my side and gave me the pep talk I needed to help me through the rest of the day, probably followed by a tub of ice-cream.

Thank you for always having faith in me

No matter the situation, you always believed in me. Whether I was worried about a test or drama in my life, you never left my side. Instead, you picked me up when I needed it. You were strong for me when I couldn't be. You always knew how to make me smile and laugh, and that was all I needed in a roommate.

And most of all, thank you for the memories

From the late nights studying, or the late nights eating and watching Netflix, you were there for it all. The memories made freshman year just trying to find our way through college life together is something that I will cherish forever.

Unfortunately, the rollercoaster of freshman year must come to an end, and as some of our "freshman roomies" go separate ways whether it is that they are transferring or moving into an apartment, there will never be anyone exactly like your freshman roommate. They were your first best friend in college, they were your shoulder to lean on, and most of all they were the sister you may have never had. So hug your roomie extra tight today because soon you will both be going separate ways, but no matter who you meet these next few years there will never be anyone like your freshman roommate.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
