Everyone has a best friend. Someone they can always talk to, gossip with, call for anything, tell the straight up truth to, fight with and immediately makeup, and the list goes on. Very few are fortunate enough to have a friend that is a forever friend. The one that has been your friend since day one, you've created the most memories with, and someone that can never be replaced.
Personally, I have a best friend who I adore greatly. We literally have been friends since the womb. There's a picture of our pregnant moms belly-to-belly and I'm convinced we're holding a conversation in there. We love to tell people that we're exactly one month and four days apart and that we're basically sisters. My childhood was centered around vacations, sleepovers, movies, playdates, etc. with this girl.
The best part about our friendship is we have never gone to school together. We always hoped college would be the time to live together and experience things daily together, but that didn't happen. Without a doubt, though, we're still the best of friends. When it came time to take our friendship into our own hands, we never skipped a beat. She's one of those friends that I can go weeks without talking to, and once we finally talk, the days in between don't feel far apart. We check in weekly to say "hi" and see how each other are, and we physically see each other about once every other month.
I wouldn't trade this friendship for anything in the world. I love saying I have had a best friend for 20 years and that it is the friendship to which I hold my standards. She's the first one I tell anything important to, she's the first one I go to for advice on boys or life, and she's the one I want to call when I feel like my world is crashing down. There aren't many people in my life that I would take a bullet for, but she is one. I'll stay up past midnight to talk to her on the phone when she's driving and doesn't want to be alone, and I'll be the one to hold her dress and bouquet and tell her how beautiful she looks when she walks down the aisle.
God has blessed me with many things in my life, but this friendship is one I'm eternally grateful for. No matter what changes in my life, my friendship with her is the one constant I can depend on. Through thick and thin, the highs and the lows, I will always be your best friend.
