Dear Julie,
Ever since I was little, I remember having you by my side. We did everything together, and I can't recollect a memory of my childhood without you in it, from lemonade stands, to street hockey, to the time we built a catapult from wood in my backyard for the middle school pumpkin launch competition.
I've always thought of you as more of a sister than a friend. You've been there for me during the best and the worst, and your friendship has never failed me. It's once in a lifetime, if at all, that we meet these kinds of friends, and now I live 1,000 miles away from you, which sucks.
When I moved to Florida several years ago, leaving you behind was definitely the hardest part. I couldn't imagine no more late-night runs to Speedway for "Speedy freezes" or movie marathons in your basement. I couldn't imagine you not being there for my 18th birthday and eventual high school graduation.
However, as I said before, your friendship has never failed me. I can't thank you enough for coming to visit for my 18th birthday and hopping on a plane the day after my high school graduation to celebrate with me. I can't put into words how grateful I am to have such a strong companion in my life that would go to any extent to make sure I am happy. The amount of times you have come down here to see me is forever appreciated and a true display of your amazing character.
As I've grown up. it's only become clearer to me how rare our friendship is. We still talk everyday, and you still know me better than anyone else. We still share every detail of our days to each other and when I see you it's like we haven't spent any time apart. I can't imagine dealing with tough and challenging situations without your help.
It's crazy how many friends have come and gone for whatever reason. But you've always been there for me, and I couldn't live my life without your unconditional love and support for me. You are my rock and there's never been a moment where I didn't feel like I could depend on you.
I get excited when I reminisce on the past adventures we've had, but I get even more excited thinking about what there is to come. I can't wait to add more memories to the already abundant collection. One day we will share an apartment with lots of dogs and enjoy the rest of our young years living it up. There is no one in the world I'd rather explore life with than you.
I promise to never take our friendship for granted, no matter how long we've been apart or how far away you are. You will always be my best friend and my sister.
Love,
Meg
