Can You Lead Or Not?

A Letter To Conservatives

Dear Trump supporters and conservatives,

Yes, attacking Barron or Ivanka Trump is WRONG. Any sign that says "rape Melania" is WRONG and anything attacking the President's family just because of spite for the President is WRONG.

But please don't paint Democrats or liberals with a generalization based on the acts of a tiny minority attacking the President's family. Aren't you the ones who hate the idea of being generalized? When feminists talk about being afraid of men, aren't you the first ones to say, "not all men are predators"? When we say your side empowers racism, aren't you the first to say, "We're not racist. Only a small group voting for our same candidate is!"?

Yet here some of you are, quick to say things like "the liberals showing their true colors." But let's not forget that it was conservatives and Republicans who sent rape and death threats to Sasha and Malia Obama. Let's not forget that it was a conservative politician who referred to Michelle Obama as an ape in heels and then promptly went back to work with no consequences. It was your side that had violent protests which featured burning a lynch doll of Obama after he was elected. Fox News tried to say that Obama is an elitist who can't relate to America because he got mustard on his burger. Yet despite this Trump is on video saying he has not carried his own luggage in years and Fox News is eerily silent on it. How many of you are fans of Milo Yiannapolous? He posted on FaceBook claiming that Melania Trump is a REAL first lady while Harvard/Princeton educated Michelle Obama apparently isn't, purely basing his claim off of his perception of their physical appearances and beauty.

YOUR SIDE has MANY atrocities, DECADES of them, really, and so many in just the past eight years alone. And if you hate the left generalizing all of you as sexists, racists, and uneducated imbeciles for these incidents, then why are you now doing the same thing?

Truthfully, I come to CNN or Fox comment threads all the time to argue with people. I enjoy doing that. Today I see a lot of liberals shaming the nasty comments made against Barron Trump. I never saw any conservatives doing the same for what was said of the Obama family. Where were any of you when it was President Obama and his family being attacked like that?

Your side attacked Michelle Obama for exposing her arms in an otherwise conservative dress, yet referred to Melania Trump's nude photos as works of art. Your side hates being talked down to as if you're all "country bumpkins," yet has the gall to condescend to liberals by calling them "whiners" and "snowflakes."

Surely you must see the hypocrisy here.

I'm not saying that the left is innocent of hate or hypocrisy, but your side certainly isn't either, and in the last 8 years your side has been merciless about it. If you want to be better than your perceived leftist enemies, why are you not acting better? You're guilty of double standards and some frankly disgusting behavior right now. Yet you try to shame us for those very things. If you're better, prove it.

America is very divided right now, and many of you are asking why. Many of you, I'm sure, want a united America.

The best way to do that is to lead by example. You have your President right now. Show us that you can do that.

...Because if you don't even try, then the consequences when the left returns in full strength will be massive and your side will be splintered and forgotten forever. Everything you stand for morally and care about will fail if you don't.

Take it from me, a liberal who watched Trump get elected because the arrogance of the left couldn't be contained when we thought Obama's victory had solidified us forever. If you allow Trump's victory to make the right equally arrogant, which seems to be happening quite rapidly at the moment, then be ready for the consequences.

Your choice.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
