I know, you're all tired of hearing about this by now. However, whether you like it or not, a groundbreaking decision was made on November 8, and we as a country need to come to terms with it. Some of you are feeling embarrassed, disheartened or even frightened for the future of our country. It's time to put our worries to rest because it's all going to be okay.
We live in a nation where we had the ability to elect our nation's leader, a right that many countries aren't able to have. We are also able to voice our opinions, whether they were voices of contempt or celebration. That is also a right that many people aren't fortunate enough to have. Yes, some people disagree with our new president, but at the end of the day, the citizens of the United States of America are a reflection of our morals and values, not our President.
Whether you recognize it or not, we live in a country that truly is great. A country built on hardship, where economic opportunity is available to anyone willing to work for it. And while this country hasn't always boasted about equal rights for everyone, we as a country are taking great strides to make these dreams a reality. It wasn't our President's doing, it was our doing.
No matter what happens, life will go on. The grass will still grow, the sun will shine and the world will continue to rotate on it's axis. We as a society can choose to be angry and hateful and to take matters into our own hands, but that will only hurt ourselves. We, as a nation, need to come together, despite our differences, and move on as best we can. It may not be ideal for some, but it's all we can do.
This article is not Pro-Trump, nor is it Pro-Hillary. It is pro-humanity. We as a nation will move forward no matter our race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. We will go to work, do our homework, cook dinner and go to sleep every night the same way we have always done because it's the only choice we have.
No matter what happens within these next four years, whether they be good or bad, we will stand as a united nation. We have overcome so much worse than this, and no matter what, we will all be okay.
