A Letter To The Man Who Marries My Sister

To a smart man,

First off, I’d like to say congratulations. You could have ended up with any woman in the world. But you made the wise decision to choose my sister.

Secondly, marrying my sister means marrying my whole family. Good luck with that.

Undoubtedly, one of the first things you probably noticed about my sister is how beautiful she is. She can light up a room with her smile alone, something she got from our Dad. However, there are going to be days when she doubts herself. Be there to remind her how gorgeous she truly is on the inside and out.

My sister is one of the strongest people in the world. She has always been someone I’ve looked up to through all the hard times. Nonetheless, there will be moments where she will crack, and maybe take some of her emotions out on you. Don’t get mad at her for this. Be patient, hold her hand and be her shoulder to cry on.

My sister has a guilty pleasure for TV shows like "The Bachelor" and "The Voice." You can forget about "Monday Night Football" from here on out.

Just a fair warning -- my sister is not always so pleasant in the morning. I’m talking from years of experience. Trying to wake her up on Christmas Day year after year has resulted in objects being thrown at me, curse words being yelled at me and much more. Save yourself the frustration and just leave a cup of coffee at her bedside.

She comes from a family who loves dogs. So, if she hasn’t asked you already, expect her to ask to get a puppy sometime soon. Even if you say no, she’ll go out and get it herself behind your back.

My sister has a caring heart, something she got from our Mom. She has a passion for helping people in any way she can. From mission trips to everyday favors, she will always be there to lend a helping hand. Inspire her to keep this attitude up. It is just another amazing quality of hers.

I’m sure you know it, but let me remind you how lucky you really are. You scored big time in winning my sister over. I wouldn’t trade her for anything in the world. If you’re smart, you won’t let her go. In marrying my sister, you are boarding the craziest rollercoaster. However, it will be a fun ride, filled with laughter, good memories and the best years of your life. She will love you unconditionally and be the best friend and lover you have been looking for all your life. As her sister, I can honestly say that she will make you the happiest man in the world.

I wish you two endless love and happiness.

Sincerely,

A new sister of yours

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
