My dear long-time best friend,
We have been through every up and down since third grade. This letter is for you.
I want to start by saying how much I value you as a person in my life who listens to my petty drama and accepts my hand signals and weird looks across the room as a form of communication. Since day one, we have been inseparable. Yes, there were blocks of time where we didn't talk, but a year would go by, and we would catch up like nothing had happened. Now, we're in college.
College has separated us with distance, but I want you to know I'm always here for you. Even with a crazy schedule, I do want to hear what you have to say and how I can help. I hate when you have to go through a tough time on your own and I can't physically be there, or when you just need a hug. Please know I am here, even if it's with a two-hour phone conversation.
It's a good friend like you who has taught me how to never let a friendship go just because it's "inconvenient" or "takes too much effort." I'm here to tell you your friendship means the world to me. Studies say after the ten-year friendiversary, you're likely to stay friends for life. Well, I believe that's hella true, so prepare for a lifetime with my weird comments, laughs, and requests to go to waffle house at 3 a.m.
Last thing, I'm glad we both like flamin' hot cheetos.
Talk to you soon,
Your long-time best friend.
