Letter To My Sister

Dear My Sister,

Thank you for being you.

We've grown up 15 years together, and despite the special bond we've shared all these years, only recently has it really hit me how lucky I am to have you in my life. I've realized that my appreciation for you has grown and changed over the years. When we were younger we saw each other as playmates who were always there to play dolls, ride bikes or play dress up with. However, now as we get older you are more than just a friend, more than just a best friend; you're my other half.

You are always there for me no matter what the circumstance is. Whether it's supporting me in something I do, listening to me when I'm having a bad day, keeping me up to talk in the wee hours of the night, comforting me, making me laugh or giving me fashion advice. You have never left my side. You have been there through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

You know me better than anyone else and because of that you are irreplaceable. I don't know what I would do without you in my life. Honestly. Who would I people watch with? Who would I act like a complete idiot with? Who's clothes would I steal? And these are just the basics.

We may not always see evenly and may have our differences but that's what makes us so close. We may fight sometimes, I mean all the time, and may say some pretty mean things to each other but it's always over silly things and two minutes later we are best friends again.

Our memories are pretty incredible and unique to say the least. We've gone from playing with mommy's high heels and makeup to wearing our own. From riding the dizzy teacups to riding extreme roller coasters. From playing with fake phones to sending each other silly and embarrassing Snapchats. I guess what I'm trying to say is that although we've grown up, we still never fail at having a good time whenever we're together.

Although I may be the older sister, you have taught me some pretty great things. You are such a smart, funny, kind hearted, and beautiful person inside and out. You never fail at surprising me of your capabilities, and because of that I admire you.

I know I do not say this enough and I will never be able to express it enough, but I love you. I love the person you are becoming and all of the crazy that comes with it. I love all the quirky things about you, and all the memories we've shared together.

I have been so blessed to be given a sister in my life, and because of that I will always be here when you need a shoulder to cry on, be someone to share a joke or laugh with, be someone to go on crazy adventures with, and most importantly be someone to protect you no matter what.

You were my first friend, and now you are my best friend. I couldn't be more lucky to call you my sister.

Love,
Your sister.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
